The short answer

We hold an email address if you subscribe, and nothing else about you. There is no advertising network on this site, no third party tracking pixel, no behavioural profiling and no data sold or shared for marketing. You can have your address deleted at any time by emailing us or using the unsubscribe link, and you do not have to give a reason.

What we collect

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store the email address you gave us, the date, the type of subscription and the country code supplied by our hosting provider with the request. That is the whole record.

If you send us a message, we hold that message and your email address for as long as it takes to deal with it, and we keep correspondence about corrections so that we have a record of what was changed and why.

What we do not do

We do not run an advertising network. We do not embed third party tracking pixels or social media trackers. We do not build behavioural profiles. We do not sell, rent or share your address with any provider, advertiser, sponsor or data broker, and a newsletter sponsor never receives subscriber data of any kind.

We do not use your data to target you with treatment offers, because we do not make treatment offers.

Cookies

This site does not set advertising or analytics cookies. Pages are static files. If that changes, this page will say so before the change is made rather than afterwards.

We process a subscriber's email address on the basis of the consent given when subscribing, and correspondence on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering it. We keep subscriber addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and correspondence for as long as it is useful for the correction record.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email us and we will do it. We will not ask you to justify the request and we will not attempt to talk you out of it.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Where the data sits

Subscriber records are held in the key value store of our hosting provider, accessible only to the publisher. Email correspondence sits with our email provider. We do not hold payment details for readers, because readers do not pay us anything.

Provider listings

Where a provider takes a paid listing, we hold the business information they supplied, the verification we carried out, and the correspondence. That is business information rather than personal data about a reader, and it is published in the listing itself, which is the point of it.

Changes to this page

If our practice changes, this page changes first and the change is described rather than quietly substituted. The date at the foot of every page is when the site was last reviewed.

No commercial links on this page

This article contains no commercial links of any kind. No affiliate links, no sponsored placements, and no links to any clinic, practitioner, device manufacturer, brand or retailer. Nobody paid for it, nobody previewed it and nobody outside the editorial team saw it before publication.

This publication does not name, rank, rate or review any clinic or practitioner, because it has assessed none of them. Our funding is set out in full on the about page and on the provider listings page, including what we refuse to sell at any price.

Nothing here is medical advice. Speak to a qualified clinician about your own circumstances.

When the rules change, we will tell you

One email when a regulatory position shifts in a way that alters what you should check, when a published advertising ruling changes what this sector may claim, and when a new article goes up. No treatment offers, no discounts and no clinic suggestions, because we do not make any.

Sponsor lineThe newsletter may carry one clearly labelled sponsor line, placed after the editorial content. Sponsors see it when you do, and no payment of any kind can influence a claim verdict on this site. The rate is published on the provider listings page.
